Oh Lord, Come Clarity!
Let me put it this way:
If you take Come Clarity out of context, and simply listen to it, it's not bad at all. Songs like 'Take this Life' or 'Dead End' sound decently well, and the album pretty much wraps around you as you listen to it.
But if you give 'The Jester Race' or 'Whoracle' a listen, you realize what In Flames has become, and you sigh. The old music is simply much closer to my heart than 'Sountrack To Your Escape', 'Come Clarity', 'Reroute to Remain' or 'A Sense of Purpose' could ever be.
Here is another point.
Compare:
"And how I lust for the dance and the fire / deep of the nectarine sunset to drink." ('The Jester Race' - 'Moonshield')
to:
"I feel like s**t, but at least I feel something." ('A Sense of Purpose' - 'Disconnected')
There's nothing left to say, I guess.
